The Future Tense in Spanish – PDF Worksheet

¡Hola! Thanks for using our resources. We designed this great PDF worksheet to help you practice the rules behind the future tense in Spanish. These two exercises will focus exclusively on regular verbs in the future. Let’s start…

Directions:

Students could work individually or in pairs to solve the exercises on this worksheet.

As it is explained on top of this worksheet, the future tense of Spanish verbs is generally formed by following some specific conjugation rules by replacing the endings -AR, -ER, -IR from infinitive verbs for others depending on the subject. This way, the verb alone will express a future action, for example:

  • Yo estudiaré, tú estudiarás, él estudiará, nosotros estudiaremos, vosotros estudiaréis, ellos estudiarán.
  • comprarás un nuevo teléfono. (You will buy a new phone)
  • Ella no jugará con nosotros. (She won’t play with us)

To solve the first exercise, students should first read a list of 10 verbs on top of the worksheet, look up their meaning, and then read the sentences and write the correct verbs in their future forms in Spanish in the right places so that these sentences make sense. They can use a conjugation tool to double-check the correct conjugations for these verbs in the future tense in Spanish. As for the second exercise, students must 12 sentences written in the future tense with “ir + a + infinitive” (another structure for the future) and rewrite them using the simple future as shown in this example:

  • Yo voy a tocar el piano en la escuela. (I’m going to play the piano at school)
  • Yo tocaré el piano en la escuela. (I will play the piano at school.)
