The Future with IR + A + Infinitives – PDF Worksheet

¡Hola! Thanks for using our resources. We have designed another great PDF worksheet to practice the structure “IR + A + Infinitives” to talk about future actions and plans. We hope you can get the best out of this material and learn more about this topic. Let’s start.

Directions:

Students could work individually or in pairs to solve the exercises on this worksheet. They can also solve them online on this page.

To solve the first exercise, students must look at a list of verbs on top of the worksheet and then use them with the structure “IR + A + Infinitive” as shown in the first sentence with the verb “comer” (to eat). Again, you will see some reflexive verbs in the list, and they could be used in two separate ways meaning the same:

  • Yo voy a cerrar la puerta. (I am going to close the door)
  • Él va a dormirse temprano/Él se va a dormir temprano. (He’s going to bed early)

For the second exercise, they must read each sentence in the simple future tense in Spanish, that is with the verbs conjugated directly in that tense, and then rewrite these sentences using “IR + A + Infinitive”, for example:

  • Yo miraré una película esta noche. (I will watch a movie tonight.)
  • Yo voy a mirar una película esta noche. (I am going to watch a movie tonight.)
