The Conditional Simple in Spanish – PDF Worksheet

¡Hola! Thanks for using our resources. This time, we are sharing a great PDF worksheet to practice the grammar rules for the conditional simple tense in Spanish, a way to talk about hypothetical situations in the language. We hope you can get the best out of this material. Let’s start…

Directions:

Students could work individually or in pairs to solve the exercises on this worksheet.

First, this worksheet briefly explains how the conditional simple, “el condicional simple”, can be used to talk about hypothetical situations, recommend something or show courtesy. We must add specific endings to regular verbs in this tense (ía,ías…) and be mindful of spelling changes for irregular verbs. We will follow specific rules to modify most Spanish verbs’ endings, but a few verbs will have irregular forms or suffer minor spelling changes.

In order to solve the first exercise, students should write the conditional simple conjugations for the verbs in the chart on the left, keeping in mind that all these verbs have regular conditionals in Spanish. After that, they should take a look at the pictures and decide which verb in conditional form fits better in each blank space. As for the second exercise, students must fill in the blanks with the correct Spanish conditionals of the verbs in parentheses. All the verbs in the second exercise have irregular conditionals, so we suggest using a conjugation tool to double-check the right form of these words for each pronoun.
