It is a very important irregular verb to talk about things such as actions that we often do and future plans under the structure “IR + A + Infinitive”, which would be the equivalent to “going to” in English. Give students a copy of the worksheet. This worksheet has three exercises. For the first exercise, students must complete the chart with the proper conjugations of the verb IR in Spanish for each subject pronoun. In the second one, they should take a look at the images above each of the sentences and then write the correct form of the verb IR in the blanks for all 12 sentences. Finally, students should complete the dialogue using the same verb in the present tense too in a way that it makes sense and it is grammatically correct.

Extra in-class activity:
The teacher gets some flashcards on places around town and shows one flashcard a time asking students “¿Qué hacen ustedes cuando van a + lugar?“. Students must reply using the verb IR in Spanish making sentences like “Yo voy a comprar frutas” or more complex sentences like “Yo compro frutas y verduras cuando voy al mercado“. They could use the first eight sentences in the worksheet to guide themselves. Besides, the teacher can ask the question “¿Cuáles son tus planes para + fecha?” and students could reply something like “Yo voy a ir a la playa en verano” and so on.
