Direct Complement in Spanish – PDF Worksheet

Hello! Thanks for joining us. We have designed another great PDF resource to help you practice more about direct complement and pronouns in Spanish with two simple exercises. Let’s get to work!

Instructions:

Students can work alone or in pairs on these exercises. They can also complete them online on this page.

In Spanish, some pronouns can function as direct complements —such as “lo,” “la,” “los,” and “las”— and they are used to replace this direct complement in a sentence. For instance, in the sentence “Félix reparó la lavadora” (Félix repaired the washing machine), the direct complement—what he repaired—is “la lavadora.” With this in mind, we can replace this object with the masculine, singular direct object pronoun “lo” and place it before the main verb, resulting in the sentence: “Félix la reparó.”

To solve the first exercise, students must read ten sentences containing direct objects and rewrite them in the second column, replacing each direct object with the appropriate direct object pronoun in Spanish, just as we did in the previous example. For the second exercise, they must circle or highlight the correct object pronoun to complete each sentence, based on the context and the object provided in parentheses.
